Nexus 4 solid red light dead
Just a quick post to explain how my Nexus 4 died at the weekend, and was revived just now!
My Nexus 4 was low on charge at the weekend, about 4 percent, so I put it on charge. An hour or so later I came to it and it was dead with a solid red light. I’ve previously had the blinking red light problem, and that is solved by patience and waiting for it to charge back from the brink of destruction. The red solid light is a different kettle of fish. All reports state that it’s a battery fault, and thus the phones charging circuitry refuses to charge the battery when plugged in. No amount of different chargers, cables and volume down/power button combinations worked.
Thankfully at work I have a cheap Qi charging mat from Amazon. It put it on there for about an hour, and thank God, it charged it! I just successfully turned it back on via the boot menu (volume up/power button for 10 seconds). The Qi inductive charging must use different, more tolerant charging circuitry. Looks like I’ll be buying another of these charging mats for home.
Anywho, just a quick post to perhaps help someone else in the future.
Thank you for this comment. Will go and get a Qi charger now 😉
